Size & Carry
Different size classes. The Gen6 is a compact — the gold standard for concealed carry. The METE SFT is a full-size duty pistol that's challenging to conceal without a cover garment. If your primary mission is daily concealed carry, the Gen6 is the only realistic option here.
If your primary mission is home defense, nightstand duty, range training, or competition, the METE SFT's larger frame is an advantage: more grip surface, more weight to absorb recoil, and more capacity.
Shootability & Recoil
The METE SFT is the better-shooting gun. Its longer barrel, heavier frame, and 18-degree grip angle produce less felt recoil and faster follow-up shots. In timed competition drills, the METE SFT outpaces the Gen6 for most shooters.
The Gen6's new ergonomic updates (beavertail, RTF6 texture, flat trigger) make it the best-shooting Glock 19 ever, but it's still a compact fighting a full-size. Physics favors the larger gun.
Trigger & Controls
The METE SFT's trigger is in a different class — Canik's flat-face design is widely rated among the best factory striker-fired triggers at any price. The break is clean, the reset is short and tactile, and the consistency is excellent. The Gen6's new flat trigger is improved over the Gen5 but can't match the Canik.
Both are optics-ready. The Gen6 uses its new three-plate mounting system. The METE SFT ships with an optic mount plate and, in many configurations, includes a MeCanik red dot in the box.
Capacity & Reload
The METE SFT ships with 18- and 20-round magazines — 20% to 33% more rounds than the Gen6's 15-round magazines. For home defense, this capacity advantage is meaningful. The Glock 19 can accept higher-capacity Glock 17 magazines (17 rounds) for a partial offset.
Glock magazines are the most ubiquitous handgun magazines on the planet. Canik METE magazines are quality but limited to Canik-specific sourcing. For magazine availability and price, Glock wins overwhelmingly.
Price & Value
The METE SFT costs roughly $270 less than the Gen6 — and includes a holster, extra magazine, speed loader, and (in many SKUs) a micro red dot in the box. Feature for feature, the METE SFT offers dramatically more for the money.
